TIPS

- Introduce yourself to the cops in the areas that you live, work, or frequently travel to:

ï‚§ "Greetings Officer, my name is Leon Jackson, a Know Your Cops Advocate, and I just wanted to introduce myself to you to breed familiarity with those who serve my community.  I live/work right over there, so feel free to say hello when you see me."

 

- Request the complaint records of the police in the areas that you live, work, or frequently travel to on a quarterly basis as a public record that is not exempt to public disclosure under your State's FOIA.

 

Additionally 

Target local influencers to support the KYC initiative in your town/county/state:

ï‚§ Activists 

ï‚§ Non-profits 

ï‚§ Student Body Councils (HS, College, Graduate, Ph.D)

ï‚§ Youth Organizations 

ï‚§ Businesses 

ï‚§ Educators

ï‚§ Police

ï‚§ Churches, Mosques, Synagogues 

 

- Ask Each Supporter for at least 1 verbal commitment (Time, Resources, Print, Expertise, etc)

ï‚§ Establish KYC Rallies at Mall's, City Hall's, Sporting Events and City Halls. 

ï‚§ Make shirts to share with supporters.

ï‚§ Collect emails of supporters & Send out weekly updates to your supporters.

ï‚§ Identify CONTACT INFORMATION for the following:

ï‚§ local city council of representatives

ï‚§ House of representatives for your state

ï‚§ Senator for your State

ï‚§ Local Radio, TV, newspapers  

 

- Call, email or write local representatives each week.

 

- Seek drafter to volunteer time to draft legislation that aligns to the KYC Mission. 

 

Send out weekly updates to your supporters.

 

- Communicate with other KYC local representatives.
